In fact when I first saw a QR code listing of a brochure containing this drawing on the internet, I thought it was an extremely low resolution image of the drawing. What the two things have in common is that by creating symmetrical and homogenously differing units of information, a single image can hold multiple images within it which can be read from different directions at once and that includes density: holding information in three dimensions as well (the centre of the drawing). Space consciousness is creating new ways of recording information that need not be sequential as the total picture can hold multiple images at once according to the way it is read. It is a redefinition of the symbol as carrier of meaning, because the reading drives the form from an amorphous base which creates any form from the information it needs to receive it. It is the flipside of writing.Accession Number153.2018Access AdviceFor research purposes only. No reproduction without permission of Yarrila Arts and Museum.
