The 'noise' of internal thoughts should have disappeared completely and been replaced by a feeling of silence even though sounds are being made externally all around you. There is a stunned feeling as the perception adjusts to the quiet state of just sound. The incredible noise of the mind has gone. The remaining sounds can on their own engage the subconscious and unconscious layers of mind and draw it into perceiving the message of the body consciousness directly. It alone can reveal the true nature of perception to the silent and listening mind. The sounds in this state also have a strange rhythm. They are somehow recognizable to the ear and yet seem to lose their normal sequence without the incessant monitoring of time.
