On plaque:
This in-ground artwork with historical theme is in six sections of cement fondu and one of timber, beginning near Coffs Creek bank and winding across the creek walkway into a group of trees. Blending with the site, it captures traces of human activity from the boat keel mark at waters edge, past an Aboriginal midden, along a path crossed by native animals to a spot where women and children stopped along the way. Farmers and timber workers often built a log corduroy to get their drays and bullock teams over the boggy tracks. Modern technology has added much to our lives but leaves still fall on pathways and rain makes puddles where birds and animals drink. Brush off some of the sand or leaves and look for traces of: boat keel, anchor box, barrel-oyster shell, pipi, periwinkle, horse, shod bullock, dray, koala, black swan, dingo, emu, thimble, button-hook, cross-cut saw, broad axe, plough, disk, dog, computer keyboard, watch, sunglasses, bicycles, car. These are just some of the things you can find.
