Left to right: Ethel Hogbin (wife of Shire President), Betty Armstrong, (National President VIEW Club), Patricia Ryan (1st President National Secretary/Treasurer) Front: Jean Warne (Vice President), Margret Gray (Vice President), Dorothy King (Secretary).

The first VIEW (Voice, Interest and Education of Women) Club was formed in 1960 in Balgowlah in Sydney under the direction of George Forbes, the then General Secretary of the Smith Family. At this time women were not permitted to join clubs such as Rotary, Apex, Lions or other service clubs. The purpose of VIEW is to encourage friendship and a sense of well being for women; to encourage women to discover new talents, learn new skills and develop confidence and self-esteem; and to raise money and volunteer time to support disadvantaged children and their families through The Smith Family's programs.
