Adelie Hurley 1919-2010 and Antoniette Mooy (nee Hurley) 1919-2015 were known as the Banana Twins. Adelie Hurley and her widowed twin sister Toni Mooy (nee Hurley) moved to Coffs Harbour in 1983 where they became Las Presidentas of the Banana Republic, promoting the town as a tourist destination. They sewed many of their own colourful and impeccable outfits, including bright yellow robes which they teamed with banana earrings for their volunteer Republic role. Adelie was also Australia's first female press photographer and they were daughters of Antarctic and World Wars I and II photographer Frank Hurley.
