On this particular day, what emerged from my excursion into the rain was a tonal impression of the familiar coastal scenes in the style of Clarice Beckett. The elements of light, cloud cover, intensity of the rain and the time of day conspired to move the image from the expected heavy abstracted shapes in the scenes to a more layered gentle tonal form.
I set myself a challenge in my photographic practice to move from the realism required in my every day photography business into the creative and more abstracted photographic art world.
Driving off into the wet and grey raining days is a popular time for my photography, it is the opposite of the perfect clear blue sky and crystal shimmering ocean along the tourist coast line that form the regular familiar cliched scenes.Accession NumberG2020.8.3Access AdviceFor research purposes only.
