Most Somersets were either made in England or the US. This saddle exhibits the characteristics of a domestically made saddle showing smooth leather with stamping and tooling. The classic Somerset tree motif is seen on the flap.
Description

The saddle belonged to Ethel England (nee Pade), the daughter of Hermann and Isabella Pade. The saddle was purchased new for Ethel while she was living at home at "Palmdale", North Boambee. It was bought in Coffs Harbour in 1910.
