Description
Bronze medal in a presentation box. The medal is attached to a navy and gold ribbon and reads: 'Awarded to Gavin G. D. Buchanan for an act of bravery, Wongiwamble Creek, NSW, 4th Feb 1922.' The back of the medal is decorated with a shipwreck scene and an angel, and features the Latin phrase: 'Sunt lacrymae rerum sunt et sua praemia laudi'. The box is black and lined with blue felt. Embossed on the top in gold is: 'Royal Shipwreck Relief & Humane Society of NSW'.
