Mooring Buoy Anchor
This anchor is at least sixty years old.
It was used to position the buoys which held ships alongside Coffs Harbour Jetty.
Its special features are:
Great size and weight (estimated at 2.5 tonnes)
The presence of only one fluke, or 'hook'.
A shackle attached to the crown end of the shank to help lower the anchor to its correct position.
Description
Anchor used to keep shipping buoys in place in Coffs Harbour. It only has one arm and an attached shackle at the junction of arm and shank to facilitate exact positioning.
