This bottle design was fittingly known as a banana bottle. Bottles of this style were first released in the late 19th / early 20th century. A rubber nipple was placed on one end and the flow of milk could be controlled using a finger over the hole at the opposite end.
Also known as the "hygienic baby bottle" and praised as "the saviour" of bottle-fed babies at the beginning of the 20th century as it was easy to clean.
