Born in Singapore in 1959, Simryn Gill grew up in Port Dickson, Malaysia, was educated in India and the UK, and now lives and works in Sydney, Australia. Her artwork has been exhibited widely in Australia and SE Asia. Gill has been included in the 5th Instanbul Biennial in Turkey, the third Asia Pacific Triennial in Brisbane, Cities on the Move, the TransCulture exhibition curated by Fumio Nanjo and Dana Friis Hansen for the 1995 Venice Biennale and in the 1994 Adelaide Biennial (curated by John Barrett-Lennard). She has had solo exhibitions at the Experimental Art Foundation in Adelaide; CCA Kitakyushu, Japan; Ikon Gallery, Birmingham; ArtPace, Texas; as well as in galleries in Singapore, Manila, Helsinki, Sydney and Brisbane.
