Mr William Sharp, a resident of Coffs Harbour for the past 27 years and of the district for 33 years, died at his home at The Orange Trees about 2 o'clock this morning, aged 77 years. He was born at Shell Harbour, South Coast, and was engaged in the farming industry there in his early life. Thirty-three years ago he came to this district and took up residence on the farm at ‘Rudder Grange,’ Coramba. Six years later he came to Coffs Harbour and settled at The Orange Trees. In the early years of his residence here he took an active interest in public affairs, but for a number of years has been an invalid and confined to his bed. The widow and family of six sons and five daughters survive, and one daughter died in infancy. The sons are Messrs. AJex. (Urunga), Wilfred and Walter (Fernmount), Russell (South Arm, Bellinger River), Angus and Keith (Coffs Harbour). Mesdames J. McLean (Sydney), D. L. Cameron (Cloud's Creek), Ben. Savins (Fernmount), and Misses Nellie and Mary (Coffs Harbour) are the daughters. Messrs. Chas. E. Sharp (Coffs Harbour) and Robt. Sharp (Jamberoo), Mesdames T. Fenwick and F. Bidgood (Austinmer) and Mrs. J. Mobbs (Thirroul) are brothers and sisters of deceased. The funeral is at the Presbyterian portion- of Coffs Harbour Cemetery tomorrow afternoon.

His acquired knowledge of cattle and all matters appertaining to work on the land were soon taken advantage of by the Orara people and hi was included in the committee of the Orara Agricultural Show and made president of that body. He remained at Coramba for six years, and during that time won the bulk of the prizes at their Annual Show.
He then took a leading part in the formation of the Coffs Harbour Butter Factory, and later the Agicultural Show, and was chairman of both institutions for some years.
