After spending five years living and working in London, Coleing was keen to return to a place where he felt, and continues to feel, at home – close to the ocean on the Mid North Coast of NSW.
In 1968 Coleing purchased the only remaining warden’s cottage, not far from Trial Bay Goal. It was inevitable that the ocean would become a subject at this time although as these drawings depict, Coleing continued his exploration of abstract art.
‘Rough Seascape’ (1968) is the third in this series of three drawings.Accession NumberG2024.9.4Access AdviceFor research purposes only. No reproduction without permission of Yarrila Arts and Museum.
