Description
Commercially made wooden wine box holding six bottles of wine lying flat.
The green glass bottles hold wine made especially to celebrate the reopening of the Coffs Harbour Jetty in 1997. All still have the original seal over the cork end. Each bottle has a front and back label. The front label is cream with green print (as per the inscription) and has a drawing of the jetty. The back label is cream with maroon print and gives details of the wine's production. The wine is a 1996 Cabernet Shiraz Merlot blend.
The wine box is made of unvarnished pine. Originally made to house "Taylors St Andrews 2001 Shiraz", which has been stamped on the front face of the box. The box has a dowel-hinged lid and two metal clasps at the front which are broken. A chain inside the left side of the box stops the lid from falling backwards when opened.
There is an old faded sticker on the lid with the name and address of a liquor store in the Jetty Village, possibly where the box was obtained.
