Grace Hoy attended Sydney Technical College, c. 1907. Between 1922 and 1940, her works were hung in both the Archibald and Sulman prize exhibitions:

• 1922: Portrait of Mr Arthur Crocker (finalist in Archibald Prize)
• 1926: Commandant Atkins and Miss Brenda Oliver (finalists in Archibald Prize)
• 1938: Wise and otherwise (finalist in Sulman Prize)
• 1940: The road to victory - 'Follow me' (finalist in Sulman Prize)
