Jock is same skin as me (Jaru) and the country is south of Nicholoson Station where Jock was born and grew up and worked as a stockman. I have painted one of the many mountains in the area, standing out against the bright red of the flatlands in dry time, without one blade of grass to be seen. Hard country this way - Jock says the old people used to come out here for hunting after the wet - plenty of kangaroo and wallaby and bush turkey when the water is around. The white people call this part Candlewick Mountain, I guess because of the shape of the high peak there - a bit further to the south is Three Sisters Dreaming, after the three mountain peaks in the same range.Accession Number011.2019Access AdviceFor research purposes only.
