Major George Allan Crawford recalls his time at the Special Training Depot at Lowanna during World War II, where new recruits were trained in jungle warfare. After the war, Mr Crawford returned to Coffs Harbour and bought a banana plantation. He was heavily involved with the local community, and recalls his first impressions of the area.
