Sadie grew up in Sydney. Her husband was from Dorrigo, and before her wedding her parents and her in-laws thought she should visit Dorrigo first in case she changed her mind about marrying him. She loved it and they were married in 1921. Sadie and her husband grew potatoes. She remembers the rain, bushfires and drought. She talks about the early days of travelling by car, and the early days of potato growing in Dorrigo.
