Stella's father was the Superintendent of Centennial Park, and her family lived in a cottage on site. She met her husband at a dance at the Sydney Trocadero. They lived in North Bondi and later built a home in Dover Heights. She recalls her family's experiences during World War 2, including how it changed the direction of people's lives. She walked into the city when she heard about the end of the war to join the celebrations.
